Saint-Emilion.
65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Monbousquet is a distinguished wine estate situated in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux, France. This historic château, with roots dating back to the 16th century, spans 32 hectares of prime vineyard land. The diverse terroir of sandy, gravelly soils over a clay subsoil provides an excellent environment for cultivating Merlot, which is the predominant grape variety, along with significant plantings of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The freshness is very present, together with richness and minerality, black fruits and black olives. Hint of salt, too. Medium to full body with layers of ripe tannins and a juicy finish. Well done. Lightly salty.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Monbousquet shoots from the glass with vibrant scents of fresh blackcurrants and Bing cherries plus hints of pencil lead, underbrush, and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate delivers lightly chewy tannins and just enough freshness to support the delicate black fruit layers, finishing long and savory. The blend is 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2023 Monbousquet is packed with blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, mocha and gravel notes. The 2023 is an especially serious Monbousquet with bright acids and vibrant tannins that lend notable energy throughout. This is another fine showing from the Perse family.
