Ripe black fruits, orange peel, liquorice, cocoa bean, careful construction, attractively measured grilled oak, not the concentration of the 2022 at this property, but it has a more supple appeal, and great to see the consistency in differently-styled vintages. Second year in organic certification. Thomas Duclos consultant since 2018. 50% new oak barrels and 50% of wooden casks and amphoras.

The 2023 Franc Mayne is 100% Merlot and it has a deep garnet-purple color. It races out with invigorating red berry scents of raspberries and redcurrants, followed by hints of rose oil, cedar chest, and graphite. The medium-bodied palate has lovely tension and rounded tannins supporting the vibrant red fruit, finishing with a skip in its step.
