Chateau Dalem is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux. The estate originated all the way back in 1610. Chateau Dalem remained in the same family ownership until the vineyard was purchased by Michel Rullier in 1955.
The 20 hectare vineyard of Chateau Dalem is planted to 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The minor portion of Malbec has been removed. This is a big change in the vineyards. First, the vineyard has increased in size since it was initially acquired. In fact, it has more than tripled in size since the family purchased the vineyard in 1955!
Neil Martin - Vinous: 92-94/100
The 2023 Dalem has a very composed and concentrated bouquet, nicely focused and demonstrating assiduous use of new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, sorbet-fresh with hints of blood orange interwoven through its fabric. Quite persistent on the finish, this is a Dalem with tons of promise. Superb.
Antonio Galloni - Vinous: 91-93/100
The 2023 Dalem is packed with inky dark fruit, blood orange, plum and lifted floral overtones. The purity of the fruit here is compelling. The 2023 is another fine effort from proprietor Brigitte Rullier. Beautifully done.
