Bordeaux Supérieur Rouge
80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
Château Croix Mouton is a barrel-aged red wine made by Château Croix Mouton in the AOC Bordeaux Supérieur (Bordeaux) designation with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties. Jean-Philippe Janoueix began his winemaking project under the name of Château Mouton, but to prevent conflict with Mouton-Rothschild, he changed the name to Croix Mouton in 2002. He has 19 hectares of old vines and makes very accessible wines with a fruity Burgundy character.
Château Croix Mouton comes from 40-year-old vines planted in clay and alluvial soils. A total of 70 hectares where there are between 3,600 and 6,000 vines per hectare. Conventional agriculture is practiced and the yield is limited to 46 hectolitres per hectare.
